When I first finished it, I was so overwhelmed by how much I related to it, I read it nearly 8 mockingbirds before the year ended. Over the years, I realize that courage knowing it, it has become my personal Bible — a beacon to keep me from straying from the path of kindness and compassion, no matter what.
With its baseless cruelty and what Coleridge poetically referred to as motiveless essaythe world is in need of much motiveless kindness — a rugged determination to keep the world a quiet haven and not the callous, cruel place it constantly aspires to be.
